YEREVAN. – Currently there are 128 species of animals—705 animals in total—at Yerevan Zoo, and their number has increased by 183 in the past half year, zoo staff member Shahane Baghdasaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

All animals at the zoo of Armenia’s capital city live in their own areas that are adapted to the particularities of their species.

These animals are fed and raised in accordance with a special program.

Visitors also can feed these animals, but solely with the special feeds that are sold at the zoo.

“Armenia’s climate enables to create favorable conditions for both southern and northern animals,” Baghdasaryan added. “The animals, too, (...) can adapt to the conditions in which they live.”

The zoo has a special program whereby everyone can help improve the lives of these animals.

Anyone can contribute to the development of Yerevan Zoo and become a sponsor for any one of these animals.
