A woman was injured in a Tuesday attack by a man with a machete on passers-by in central Sydney, TASS reported.
According to New South Wales’ police, the attacker has been arrested.
As reported by Australian broadcaster ABC, at about 3 pm local time, a man armed with a machete tried to attack people in the city center. Witnesses of the incident managed to detain the attacker before the arrival of the police. The victim was taken to the St. Vincent hospital. Doctors assess her condition as stable.
During a special operation, police blocked the center of Sydney. The police believe that the threat to public safety has passed. There is no information about the attacker's motives.
