YEREVAN. – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is engaged in confidential dialogue over the issues related to military man who appeared on Azerbaijani side, Communications and Prevention Manager at the ICRC Yerevan Office Zara Amatuni told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

On Monday at about noon, Arayik Ghazaryan (born in 2000), a serviceman of a military unit of the Defense Army of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic), left his combat post under yet unknown circumstances. Later on Azerbaijani media said the soldier was detained in Azerbaijan. An investigation has been launched.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani media continues publishing photos of Ghazaryan. Commenting on this fact, Amatuni said that the norms of international humanitarian law imply that the detaining party is obliged to treat the detained persons in accordance with the norms of humanity and protect them from public attention.
