The Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia has received the crime report that Legal Way NGO had filed in regard to the well-known BBC article. This is what Head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office Arevik Khachatryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, stating that the report is under examination.
On August 7, BBC Russian Service released an article devoted to the post-election events that took place in Armenia in 2008 and the events of March 1, 2008. BBC wrote that it had been granted an exclusive opportunity to become familiar with the materials. Based on its documents, a group from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, led by army general Samvel Karapetyan (Oganovsky), had fired at demonstrators during the events of March 1, but this was refuted during preliminary investigation of the case.
Samvel Karapetyan has the procedural status of witness in the case of overthrow of constitutional order on March 1, 2008. Yesterday, co-founder of Legal Way NGO Ruben Melikyan informed that, in line with the commitment that his organization has publicly assumed, the organization has filed a report on the well-known article of the BBC, as well as the complete publication of the testimony that followed the release of that article.
