Head of the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia Georgy Avetisyan received today expert of the European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD) Carsen Potch and the Commission’s animal health expert Bouda Vosugh Ahmadi, as reported the news service of the Food Safety Inspection Body.

The guests presented the program for control of the foot-and-mouth disease and capacity assessment and its implementation in Armenia.

Georgy Avetisyan informed that Armenia hasn’t recorded the foot-and-mouth disease for several years now and that this is due to timely vaccination of farm animals against the foot-and-mouth disease and the strictest control over the process. “Maintenance of animal health and the fight against diseases are directly in the focus and under the surveillance of the Food Safety Inspection Body, and I am certain that our joint efforts will lead to the best outcome,” the head of the Food Safety Inspection Body said.
