Varak Sisserian, Head of Office of Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Avinyan, had a talk with the participants of the protest against the operation of Amulsar gold mine and promised to find out if they could be received by government officials.

Earlier, it was reported that a protest against the operation of Amulsar gold mine was taking place in front of the government building. Yura Ivanyan, head of the investigative team on the case of deliberate concealment of data on the exploitation of the Amulsar mine, told a news conference Wednesday about the results of the respective expertise study.

In his words, the results of the expertise study on the assessment of the possible impact of the operation of the Amulsar mine indicate that there are no paths to transfer—from the mine to the thermal hot springs of Jermuk—the groundwater flow and the contamination. Also, the study had found no data on the intentional concealment of information regarding environmental damage during the operation of this mine. The protesters, however, are publicizing excerpts from documents that attest to otherwise.

The entrance to the government building is surrounded by police.
