YEREVAN. – Firefighting has resumed at the forest near Lehvaz-Vardanidzor motorway in Syunik Province, news service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Armenia informed.

On Wednesday at 6pm, “Arevik” National Park informed that there was smoke at the aforesaid forest.

Two fire units were dispatched to the scene.

Two fire units from the Center of Carrying Out Activities of Special Importance of the Rescue Forces Department, two fire units from the Provincial Rescue Department, and ten firefighters from the free shift of the Fire and Rescue Squad of the Provincial Rescue Department were involved in the firefighting.

But firefighting was suspended at 10:30pm, and ten firefighters as well as ten workers from “Arevik” National Park patrolled the area.

Firefighting resumed Thursday at 6:30am. But about 2 hectares of vegetated area was burnt, and there was smoke in around 25 areas.

The fire was contained at 1:10pm.

But firefighting was again suspended at 10:30pm, and 24 firefighters as well as seven workers from “Arevik” National Park patrolled the area.

Firefighting again resumed Friday at 6:30am.

Two fire units from the Center of Carrying Out Activities of Special Importance of the Rescue Forces Department, and two fire units from the Provincial Rescue Department are involved in the firefighting.
