Operation of the Amulsar mine will not cause any damage to Jermuk waters, Armenian Prime Minister's spokesman Vladimir Karapetyan said on Friday.

"I have spoken to the experts, and they say that the water that comes from it is much higher than the mine,” he said.

Residents said they were forced to sell their land for the mine site.

Gndevaz resident Vardan Poghosyan said that he sold 7,000m of land to Lydian for AMD 4 million.

According to him, if his land is restored, he would immediately return AMD 4 million to Lydian.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan left for Jermuk with Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan, where he walked around the houses and had separate talks with the residents on Amulsar mine development.
