YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia is holding the 6th meeting of the Technical Cooperation Group (TCG) on the development of the Sustainable Development Goal 4: Education 2030 of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, and the Global Alliance to Monitor Learning (GAML).

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Arayik Harutyunyan, is also in attendance to this event. In his words, education is of great importance in Armenia, in terms of preserving traditional values.

The minister added that after the “velvet, nonviolent revolution” of 2018, large-scale reforms have begun in Armenia in the education sector, the development of which has become a key to the country’s development, an important factor in the strengthening and development of democracy, and a priority domain in the program of the government.

“The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of aims to broadly introduce inclusive education in the country—ensuring equal opportunities,” he said.

In Harutyunyan’s view, schools in Armenia need to become centers for individual development, and in this respect, infrastructure development, enhancing teacher qualification, and social base development are important.
