YEREVAN. – Armenia plans to open a diplomatic mission in Ethiopia by the end of this year. Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Tuesday stated this while addressing a conference of ambassadors and heads of diplomatic departments.

The FM noted that the African continent is still a new direction for the foreign policy of Armenia.

“We are opening this new direction by way of establishing close cooperation with Ethiopia, our historical friend in Africa,” the minister added. “It’s planned to open our diplomatic mission in [the Ethiopian capital city of] Addis Ababa, as early as this year.”

Mnatsakanyan characterized Ethiopia as a unique gateway to the region.
