YEREVAN. – The criminal case under investigation at the Special Investigation Service of Armenia, and regarding Gagik Khachatryan, former Minister of Finance and ex-Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC), has been forwarded to National Security Service (NSS). Arevik Khachatryan, head of the public relations division of the Prosecutor General’s Office, told about this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

This criminal case relates to the fertilizers provided at affordable prices to farmers, and under a state subsidy program. Several months ago, Khachatryan and former Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan had been indicted in this case. During the investigation of this case, about 800 million drams have already been recovered.

And under the criminal case which the NSS has launched some days ago, Gagik Khachatryan is charged with abuse of official position and large-scale embezzlement.

On August 27, the NSS detained Gagik Khachatryan and his nephew, former SRC official Karen Khachatryan.

And on August 30, and by a court order, these former officials were arrested.

Their indictment relates to the alleged crimes committed by Gagik Khachatryan during his tenure as Finance Minister and SRC Chairman.
