Well, what happened was what was expected. This is what political scientist Stepan Danielyan wrote on his Facebook page.

“Well, what happened was what was expected.

-Putin will arrive in Yerevan,

-Nikol Pashinyan showed the public that he did everything he could to imprison Kocharyan, but the “bad” court commuted the preventive measure, meaning Nikol saved face with dramas and secured his alibi.

However, now he faces a problem: How is he going to shape an agenda? How is going to divide the public into conflicting sectors? Whom is he going to blame for his failures? This remains unclear, but this is his only resource.

Now he has to try to get out of the situation regarding exploitation of the Amulsar gold mine, and this is a very difficult task.

After it turns out that the statements on transitional justice and vetting were lies, the government will try to occupy the public with the amendments to the Electoral Code and the Law “On political parties”, fill the newsfeed with “news” and create the illusion of “working”, but it seems as though the public is expecting news about their living conditions and have gotten tired of “amendments” to laws.

P.S.: Legislative amendments are necessary, but provided that they are not discredited. And another thing: the government can’t just be involved in making amendments. It has to take action, and demagogy and populism are not enough for that,” he stated.
