The Armenian authorities should determine from what positions they are negotiating to resolve the Karabakh conflict, political strategist Vigen Hakobyan told reporters on Friday.

According to him, the Karabakh issue never subsides, since it is not beneficial for Azerbaijan to maintain the status quo.

He noted that after the speech of Prime Minister Pashinyan in Stepanakert that Karabakh is Armenia, Baku raises the question of the position of Yerevan to the issue.

Karabakh also wants to understand whether it was a statement for an internal audience or not, something has changed or everything has remained the same, the expert said.

According to him, Pashinyan’s statement was nevertheless made for an internal audience, and this statement meant that Yerevan would seriously influence the upcoming elections in Karabakh.

At the same time, according to Hakobyan, if the statement was addressed to external forces, then Pashinyan would have to declare that he would negotiate on behalf of Stepanakert, and would go along the path of reunification.
