Former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan, who is charged with organizing squander in particularly large amounts, has been transferred from Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary Institution to Astghik Medical Center, as reported Head of the Public Relations Division of the Penitentiary Department Nona Navikyan, who also informed that the detainee has been transferred to the civic hospital for a checkup.

The National Security Service arrested Gagik Khachatryan and his nephew, former official of the State Revenue Committee Karen Khachatryan on August 27. Three days later, the former officials were detained, and Gagik Khachatryan was charged with abuse of official position and large-scale embezzlement.

The charge brought against him and his nephew are connected to the alleged offences that Gagik Khachatryan committed when he was Minister of Finance and Chairman of the State Revenue Committee.
