Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres has announced that the United Nations lost 72 employees this year, reports RIA Novosti.
During a ceremony held on Friday, UN officials paid tribute to the civil, law-enforcement and military personnel killed while performing their duties.
“This year, we lost 25 civilian employees, 43 peacekeepers and 4 police officers,” Guterres said.
He called on his colleagues to pay tribute to those who sacrificed themselves for the common mission.
