Decisions of the Constitutional Court are final and subject to direct enforcement, and there can’t be any restrictions. This is what Sargis Grigoryan, one of the advocates of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, said during a conversation with Kocharyan’s supporters holding a protest in front of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction today.

According to him, the Constitutional Court’s decision, based on the application of Robert Kocharyan, needs to be followed by immediate exercise of Kocharyan’s right to a fair trial, that is, the first instance court must immediately convene a court session and touch upon the preventive measure for Robert Kocharyan.

“Robert Kocharyan is a victim of justice in Armenia,” the lawyer emphasized.

In his turn, Robert Kocharyan’s representative in the Constitutional Court, lawyer Aram Vardevanyan emphasized that the issue related to the second President’s preventive measure must be solved immediately.

According to him, even though the first instance court had scheduled the trial over the case of Kocharyan and other ex-officials for September 12, the situation has changed after the decision of the Constitutional Court.

Kocharyan’s supporters have been holding a protest in front of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction of Shengavit District since morning, demanding that Judge Anna Danibekyan immediately convene a court session and consider the preventive measure for Robert Kocharyan.
