Armenia, as a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) dialogue partner, is quite actively participating in the important domains of the activities of this union, said Rashid Alimov, former Secretary General of SCO.

In his words, Armenia is certainly striving to change its status to an SCO observer in the future, and to take the next steps.

“All that, of course, first and foremost requires activeness within the organization,” he noted. “In addition, the heads of states consider the prospect for transition from one quality to another—based on the performance evaluations which the SCO Secretary General, Business Council, and other SCO organizations submit each year in their report.”

In Alimov’s view, even though Armenia’s prospects in the SCO can be viewed quite optimistically, the respective decision is always up to the leaders of the countries.
