Armenia wants to tighten punishments for pickpocketing. As Deputy Minister of Justice of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan said during a parliamentary session, the past years have seen a rise in pickpocketing, which poses a serious threat to society.
She mentioned the package of laws on making amendments and supplements to the Criminal Code, envisaging punishment for such crimes in the amount of 200-500-fold of the minimum salary or imprisonment for a term of 1-2 months or 2 years.
