Yerevan today hosted the 5th session of the EU-Armenia Joint Committee on Visa Facilitation co-chaired by Head of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Tigran Samvelian and Deputy Head of the Visa Policy and Document Security Unit of the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Commission Diederik Paalman.
The parties underscored the progress made in the process of implementation of the EU-Armenia Visa Facilitation Agreement and discussed the future steps targeted at full implementation of the Agreement and further increase of effectiveness. They also discussed the statistics, as well as raised several issues related to implementation of the Agreement and particularly took into consideration the current difficulties with applying for and obtaining visas from the consulates/visa centers of EU Member States.
They also talked about the recent positive changes and trends recorded in the relevant sectors.
