We call on the legislative and executive branches of power to put an end to the unconstitutional process and refrain from taking actions that are against the State. This is stated in the statement that the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun political party has issued, touching upon the extraordinary speech/call of the Speaker of the National Assembly and the statement by the head of the My Step faction of the National Assembly that the National Assembly is launching a process to terminate the powers of the President of the Constitutional Court.

The text of the statement reads as follows:

“Touching upon the events unfolding in regard to the judiciary over the past months, we had expressed our concern about the inadmissibility of the political authorities’ actions to repress courts and judges.

The extraordinary speech-call of the Speaker of the National Assembly and the head of the My Step faction of the National Assembly not only confirmed our concern, but also enshrined the fact that the ruling political party has adopted the path to establish total monarchy and overthrow the constitutional order.

The goal to appropriate the judiciary is incompatible with the judicial and legal reforms that the country needs so much.

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun political party, being a political party that is responsible for the present and future of the Armenian people, assesses the current processes threatening Armenian statehood as strictly dangerous.

  • We call on the legislative and executive branches of power to put an end to the unconstitutional process and refrain from taking actions that are against the State;
  • We call on judges to stay true to the mission to implement justice as reserved to them by the Constitution;
  • We call on the political forces and public committed for the future of the country to consolidate around real national agendas.
