YEREVAN. – Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan on Monday chaired a meeting of the council for the improvement of demographic situation in Armenia

“The government—with its program—has assumed a commitment to ensure the stability of the demographic situation and the promotion of an increase in birth rate [in Armenia],” Avinyan said, in particular. “Today we already have the necessary facts and analysis to move from the preparatory phase to the implementation of practical steps.

“The measures to improve the demographic situation [in the country] should already be implemented as of the first half of next year: 2020.”

Subsequently, the respective program proposals were discussed at the meeting.

And summing up the talk, the deputy PM gave the relevant state agencies instructions to refine these program proposals, as well as to submit new proposals and packages that are based on the results of this discussion.
