Scotland intends to remain part of the European Union (EU) in the event of Brexit. Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said this at a news conference in Berlin, DW reported.

She expressed the hope that the UK would not leave the EU. But if that happens, according to Sturgeon, Scotland will have the opportunity to become an independent EU member state.

Sturgeon expressed the view that there is a high chance that the UK will leave the EU without an agreement.

But they will continue the fight against hard Brexit, and it is necessary to achieve the extension of the Brexit deadline, the Scottish politician continued.

Also, Nicola Sturgeon supported a second referendum in Scotland in 2020. The politician said it would be a democratic decision because, given the changed circumstances, this referendum may have another result.
