YEREVAN. – Recently, the meeting between Larisa Minasyan, the head of Open Society Foundations-Armenia, with Andrea Wiktorin, the new head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Armenia, has caused a wave of anger among the civil society representatives of the country, according to Zhamanak (Time) newspaper.
“Larisa Minasyan, the head of this one portion of the civil society [in Armenia], is attempting to take on the role of the forerunner of Armenia’s civil society with the EU ambassador. But given the quite problematic realities of the recent period, it should probably be recorded that the organizers of the meeting have simply misled the ambassador and put her in an awkward position.
“According to civil society representatives, for the first time ever, any post posted, comments made under a picture on the Facebook page of the EU office in Yerevan are being censored and deleted continually for several days,” Zhamanak wrote.
