Yerevan today hosted the starting event of the EU External Investment Plan held as part of the visit of Deputy Director-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission Katarina Mathernova. The event began with opening speeches by Deputy Director-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission Katarina Mathernova, EU Ambassador to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin and Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Varos Simonyan.

In his opening remarks, Varos Simonyan expressed special gratitude to the European colleagues for their willingness to share their best practice in and approaches to the EU External Investment Plan.

“We highly appreciate the timely contribution of the EU External Investment Plan, which will help promote investments in Armenia, focusing on several priority investment sectors,” he said.

The deputy economy minister added that the EU External Investment Plan is targeted at the promotion of inclusive growth, improvement of the business climate, the creation of jobs and sustainable economic development.

The EU External Investment Plan, the financial instruments and key components of the Plan, the goals of the policy for investment opportunities in Armenia in light of the EU External Investment Plan and the paths for improvement of the business climate for the purpose of promoting investment flows.
