YEREVAN. – The price of buckwheat has increased in Armenia as a result of the increase in buckwheat price in Russia, expert Harutyun Mnatsakanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Mnatsakanyan noted that the dynamics of price increase of buckwheat will be maintained until 2020.

Asked whether the buckwheat grown in Armenia may affect the pricing of this crop, the expert answered in the negative.

The price of beetroot is also expected to increase in Armenia, and which, according to the expert, is linked to increased demand and a sharp deficit in that crop.

Armenia produces only 3 percent of its required buckwheat, and 97 percent of it is imported from Russia, as the country holds a monopoly in buckwheat production.
