We’re concerned about the fact that the Armenian government has increased funding for security and defense by only 0.8%, and this is problematic because Armenia’s adversary is planning on increasing its military budget by 20% for the year 2020. This is what deputy of the Prosperous Armenia faction of the National Assembly Sergey Bagratyan told journalists today, touching upon the discussions on the 2020 State Budget in the National Assembly.

According to him, this is troubling since Armenia needs to give an adequate response to challenges.

“I recommend increasing expenditures for security and defense by 30% so that Armenia will be capable of resisting the expected risks,” Bagratyan said, adding that he is also concerned about the lack of funding for science.
