YEREVAN. – The awareness march demanding the resignation of Education, Science, Sports and Culture Minister Arayik Harutyunyan ended today near the Ministry building.

Students from the Yerevan State University (YSU) Faculty of Armenian Philology and members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party youth association had gathered early in the morning at the building of the aforesaid faculty from where they marched to the Ministry building.

They marched by other universities, calling for students to boycott classes.

A similar march was held the day before.

Another awareness march is planned to be held tomorrow, too.

Students from the YSU Faculties of Armenian Philology and History oppose the ministry's "Higher Education" bill, which proposes making optional at non-vocational faculties in universities the teaching of "Armenian Language" and "Armenian History" subjects that are now mandatory. They have been boycotting classes since November 6 demanding to revise this controversial point in the bill, and have also started collecting signatures.

Arayik Harutyunyan had announced that he was not going to resign.
