I am the one who asked the already deputy minister of justice Anna Vardapetyan to stop working with me, and there are several reasons for this. This is what Minister of Justice of Armenia Rustam Badasyan told journalists today, touching upon the dismissal of Deputy Minister of Justice Anna Vardapetyan.

“The reason is the following: you know that the Ministry of Justice has adopted two strategies, including the Anti-Corruption Strategy and the Strategy on Judicial and Legal Reforms. The main person in charge of the Strategy on Judicial and Legal Reforms is First Deputy Minister Rafik Grigoryan, and Srbuhi Galyan is in charge of the Anti-Corruption Strategy. With respect to both strategies, a need has emerged to make structural changes within the Ministry of Justice. You also know that the Armenian parliament adopted a law on Armenia’s representative to the European Court of Human Rights, after which two departments of the Ministry of Justice were closed. In the context of all this, we need to look for the structure that will best comply with the work of four deputy ministers. If the Ministry of Justice ever needs a new deputy minister, I think that deputy minister will have a totally different profile from the one that Anna Vardanyan had,” Badasyan said.
