YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia made a decision today to allocate funds to the Shirak, Lori, and Aragatsotn provincial halls to solve the problems of the homeless after the 1988 earthquake.

Armen Ghularyan, Deputy Chairman of the Urban Development Committee, presented the matter. He noted that to this end, the government reserve fund will allocate 1.291 billion drams by the end of the year.

"As of now, there are 453 families in Armenia, with a state obligation to provide housing," Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, in turn. “We have increased the funds allocated for this purpose about 6 times in the 2020 budget. Next year 3 billion drams are envisioned for this purpose.”

"Second, in recent years the rate of providing housing to the [earthquake] disaster victims has been 40-45 families per year," Pashinyan added. “By this decision, we increase this rate 4-5 times. That is, there will remain 226 families, and we have a real chance to solve, end that problem with next year's budget.”
