US President Donald Trump is making efforts to solve the issue related to the House of Representatives’ passage of the resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide. This is what President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared after his meeting with Donald Trump, reports RIA Novosti.
“Trump is making efforts to find a solution to this issue that will be based on national interests and mutual respect. The circles that are working against Trump are doing everything they can to ruin the relations between Turkey and the United States. This is the main reason why the resolution concerning the events of 1915 was passed by the House of Representatives along with the sanctions,” Erdogan told journalists aboard the plane flying from Washington.
On October 29, with 405 in favor and 11 against, the US House of Representatives passed the resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide committed in the Ottoman Empire. On the same day, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled the US Ambassador to Turkey.
Yesterday US senator Lindsay Graham declared that he had blocked the Armenian Genocide resolution.
