The Ministry of Defense of Armenia knows best what the shortcomings were and what solutions were provided. This is what former defense minister and member of the Republican Party of Armenia Artak Zakaryan told journalists at the conference held by “Vernatun” public-political club, touching upon the activities of the parliamentary committee conducting a probe into the Four-Day Artsakh War of April 2016.

“In the modern world, the armed forces always need to develop and be upgraded. Defensibility can be increased with the types of arms that were acquired when the Republican Party of Armenia was in power, not by changing the meals served to servicemen. What is the parliamentary committee doing? Time will tell. The committee could have been helpful, if it was composed of professionals, not nine deputies of the National Assembly who don’t have any clue about the life of a serviceman,” he said.

According to him, the adversary’s attack was truly a surprise attack because the adversary didn’t have any chance in the negotiations and simply tried to mix things up through a military venture.

When told that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has declared that Armenia had information at a specific hour prior to the launch of military operations, Artak Zakaryan said the following: “Nikol Pashinyan is our Prime Minister and the Commander-in-Chief during war and has all the possibilities to clearly substantiate and prove what he has declared.”
