Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon Gebran Bassil has declared that Lebanon’s ex-finance minister Mohammad Safadi has agreed to become the country’s Prime Minister, reports TASS.

“Safadi will be assigned to form a new cabinet after the parliamentary consultations on Monday,” Bassil said, Al Hadas TV cited.

The 75-year-old politician and businessman from Tripoli has been a part of the cabinet of ministers several times and has been elected a Member of Parliament three times starting from 2000. Between 2011 and 2013, Safadi was the finance minister of Najib Mikati’s cabinet. Safadi’s wife, Violet Hayralla was the state minister for job placement of youth as part of Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s cabinet, which resigned on October 30.
