American border guard injured a Russian citizen who was trying to illegally cross the country's border from Mexico, Fox News reported.

The agent tried to detain a man at around 7:15 pm on the US-Mexican border in eastern Arizona.

"As the agent attempted to arrest the subject, a physical altercation ensued, and the agent discharged his firearm, striking the subject," US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The wounded border violator was hospitalized.  The FBI and the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are investigating the incident.
