North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended the drills of the air force and air defense forces and highlighted the need to improve the country's preparedness for war, Korea Herald reported

Kim Jong-un carried out field leadership with the landing of paratroopers the day after South Korea and the US decided to postpone their air exercises in order to encourage Pyongyang to return to the negotiation table on denuclearization.

"It is necessary to wage a drill without notice under the simulated conditions of real war like this and examine it, not being affected by rule and formality, and thus make it an opportunity for improving the preparedness of KPA units for war and examining and training them," Kim said.
