YEREVAN. – Violations of rights in Armenia have become normal, this is a problem. Speaking to reporters today, French Armenian lawyer Sevak Torosyan in the case of second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan said this.

"The whole trial of Robert Kocharyan is based on the will of one person, and that one person is the prime minister," he said. "This is a political trial."

Torosyan stressed the need for independence of judges in Armenia. "Unless the judges become independent, just stay a worker of the executive branch, I don't see a future in the country," he said, in particular.

The lawyer also said that he had sent a letter to the President of France. "I had sent a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron, not waiting for a response," he said. "But a month later, the response came: 'Rest assured that France is following Robert Kocharyan's trial very closely.'"

He stresses that all countries are aware of what is happening with regard to Kocharyan's trial, but they are still waiting. "Countries are aware of Kocharyan's trial, but do not want to become a reason for despair against the revolution," the attorney said. “The authorities that carried out the revolution are given time. Even foreign journalists write about Robert Kocharyan's trial within the topic of a general revolution and are waiting."
