YEREVAN. – I always intend to call Mikael Harutyunyan to the NA inquiry committee. Speaking to reporters in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia today, Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the NA majority My Step faction and Chairs of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security and of the NA Inquiry Committee for Examining the Circumstances of the Military Activities of April 2016, stated this referring to the “March 1” criminal case defendant, former Defense Minister Mikael Harutyunyan, who is currently in the Russian Federation, and is wanted by Armenia.

"Mikael Harutyunyan should return to the country where he was the number one defense official," Andranik Kocharyan said. “A person who has worked as the Armenian Defense Ministry even for one day cannot leave the country, go, and give no explanation. Mikael Harutyunyan and his family members should realize as soon as possible that he was the Chief of General Staff, also the Minister of Defense, and it is not [ex-President] Robert Kocharyan's illegal decisions that should push him beyond the borders of our country. He should come back and answer those questions, give an explanation.”
