Professors of the Faculties of Armenian Philology and History of Yerevan State University are a in a meeting with Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan, while members of the youth union of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun political party continue their protest in front of the building of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.

As reported earlier, for over a week, students of the Faculty of Armenian Philology of Yerevan State University have been protesting against the bill on higher education and science and continue the student strike that they launched last week. The young members of the political party have organized a sit-in in front of the ministry building.

Fifty-eight professors of Yerevan State University had declared a one-day symbolic workers’ strike yesterday, expressing their support to the students of the Faculties of Armenian Philology and History who have been on a student strike since November 6. They are protesting against the bill on higher education and science by which the teaching of the subjects “Armenian Language”, “Armenian Literature” and “Armenian History” will no longer be a prerequisite in the non-specialized faculties of universities.
