Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today received Secretary-General of the World Customs Organization Kunio Mikuriya, who is participating in the “Digital Solutions for Cross-Border Cooperation and Facilitation of Trade” regional conference in Armenia.

The Prime Minister welcomed Kunio Mikuriya’s participation in the conference, which attests to the effective cooperation between the Government of Armenia and the World Customs Organization, and mentioned that the cooperation contributes to customs reforms in Armenia.

Mentioning the fact that he is happy for his fourth visit to Armenia, Kunio Mikuriya reaffirmed the willingness to enhance the partnership with the Government of Armenia.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to the partnership within the scope of reforms in the tax and customs sectors, ongoing introduction of the one-stop shop principle and the importance of application of information technologies. Talking about the government’s reforms, the Prime Minister touched upon the establishment of a service center for foreign economic activities in Gyumri where state functions for customs and foreign economic activities will be performed under the one-stop shop principle.

The parties also exchanged views on the opportunities for holding the IT conference of the World Customs Organization in Armenia.
