Renewable energy development is important to reduce gas dependence, Garegin Baghramyan, chair of the Armenian Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), said Tuesday at the presentation of the report on the plan for the development of the energy system of Armenia for 2020 - 2036 at the lowest cost.
According to him, a favorable legislative base has been created in Armenia for the development of renewable energy.
“The development of small hydropower plants evidenced it. The necessary conditions have been created for the development of solar energy,” he noted.
Baghramyan noted that market liberalization is also important, which can also stimulate the development of the industry and attract new investments.
