Commander of the special police division of Iran, brigade general Hasan Karami has declared that the clashes in the Iranian state of Huzestan have left one police officer killed and two wounded, reports Fars.

“A group of armed criminals opened fire at civilians and police officers during the disturbances in Mahshahr,” Karami said.

According to him, Captain Reza Sayadi was killed as a result of an armed clash against rebels, and two officers are wounded.

Protests against inflation of petrol prices began last weekend in Iran. Iranian officials claim that certain forces have benefited from this in order to create chaos in the country. According to official data, nearly 1,000 people are under arrest.
