The Israel Defense Forces said they had attacked dozens of targets in Syria, RIA Novosti reported referring to Haaretz.

Earlier on Tuesday, the press service of the Israeli army reported that the military had spotted the launch of four missiles on Israeli territory from Syria, all of them intercepted. Explosions thundered in Damascus on Wednesday night, Syrian state television reported that the air defense repelled an attack on the capital and its environs.

The Israeli army announced on Wednesday that it attacked many targets belonging to the Quds Iranian forces and Bashar al-Assad’s army in Syria, the newspaper writes.

The attack was made in response to the launch by Iranian forces of missiles from Syria towards Israel, the purpose of which was to strike at Israeli territory, the newspaper reported referring to the army.

The military said in a statement that the attacks were carried out on approximately 20 targets, more than half of which belonged to Iranian forces targeting the building near the airport in Damascus, which allegedly houses the Quds headquarters. It is claimed that Israeli forces intentionally did not begin to destroy it completely.
