Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said the night strike that the country's air force inflicted on Iranian targets in Syria was a response to shelling of Israeli territory.

According to him, the authorities will continue to ensure the security of the state, RIA Novosti reported.

The day before, the Israeli army press service reported that the military had detected the launch of four missiles on Israeli territory from Syria, all of them intercepted. Explosions thundered in Damascus on Wednesday night, Syrian state television reported that the air defense repelled an attack on the capital and its environs

According  to the Israeli military, the attacks were carried out on approximately 20 targets, more than half of which belonged to Iranian forces. One of the goals was the building near the airport in Damascus, which allegedly houses the Quds headquarters.
