The field of economic activity in Armenia is liberalized, and there are no and cannot be monopolies sponsored at the state level, said Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan on Wednesday.

According to him, ensuring free competition is one of the priorities of the Armenian Government. “The economic indicator of 5.2% amid political upheavals in 2018 and the desire in 2019 to reach the 7% mark indicate that serious changes have been made. The State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition has an important mission - to promote free and competitive markets. During these seven months, its work contributed to this, research was conducted in unprecedented volumes,” he noted.

According to him, however, some markets still have problems.

“But the commission’s tools are enough to solve the bulk of the problems in 2020,” the Deputy PM added.
