President of Russia Vladimir Putin has declared that the development of relations between Russia and Ukraine highly depends on Kiev, reports RIA Novosti.

“What are the prospects for the development of interstate relations between Russia and Ukraine? This highly depends on Ukraine. We see that Ukraine always raises issues that Russia views as inacceptable and ineffective from the perspective of the settlement of the conflict in Donbas,” Putin said.

According to him, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to change the situation in Ukraine for the better.

“I think Zelenskyy wants to change the situation for the better, including the situation in Donbas, but I still don’t know how capable he is of doing that. There are some positive steps, and I’m referring to the division of forces and resources in both settlements, even though soldiers reported yesterday that there are still shootings from the Ukrainian side,” Putin said.
