YEREVAN. – At the European People's Party congress in Croatia, the main message of Armenia's third president, Serzh Sargsyan, was that he himself had given up power, and changes in the country had taken place peacefully because of his decision, political scientist Vigen Hakobyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, it was an attempt to seize laurels from Pashinyan, who always said that the revolution was "velvet and nonviolent."

"This was another manifestation of some activity by Serzh Sargsyan; now on the international platform, too," Hakobyan noted. “The first such activeness [by Sargsyan] was observed during a meeting with the US Ambassador to Armenia. All this doesn’t speak about Sargsyan's return, but about his showing activeness, given that he is still the leader of the Republican Party. However, it was not the speech that was expected to be heard by the domestic audience, as the Armenian public is more interested in the meaning of Sargsyan's expression, ‘Nikol was right, I was mistaken.’"
