Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan is concerned about fraud with the adoption of children.

“We will be consistent in working with partners to understand what happened, ” he told reporters as part of the event dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Ombudsman’s Institute in Armenia.

As reported earlier, Armenian National Security Service revealed numerous cases of illegal adoption of children by foreigners.

According to the data obtained during the investigation, two citizens of Armenia, using their contacts in one of the obstetric institutions, a number of departments, as well as orphanages, with numerous gross violations of the Armenian legislation organized the adoption of over three dozen children - Armenian citizens by Italians. We are talking about 2016-18. Women who applied to medical institutions for termination of pregnancy were persuaded, intimidated, blackmailed by the threat of the publication of information about an accidental pregnancy, they exaggerated the illness of the newborn so that the mother refused him, and did not hesitate to receive money from women in labor for providing obstetric services. Having received written consent from their mothers, the criminals transferred the children to orphanages, accompanying the actions with relevant documents, after which, using the given “diagnosis” earlier, they indirectly violated the principle of priority of adoption at home.

A criminal case has been opened, an investigation is underway.
