YEREVAN. – The representative of oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) Levon Zurabyan said the ongoing process in Armenia is aimed at providing change of power without upheaval.

Speaking at the opposition rally held in Yerevan on Friday, the ANC representative said authorities are unwilling to meet opposition’s demands. He called for a preparation to future civil disobedience campaign throughout the republic.

“Our determined steps should make the leadership come to senses,” he said.

Addressing the participants, Chairman of the Republic party’s political council Aram Sargsyan said they need patience to gain victory solving global problems the country is faced with. He stressed that Armenian opposition will spare no effort to avoid scenario of the Arab states. Authorities will have to cede power peacefully. 

 Former Deputy Prosecutor General Gagik Jahangiryan expressed confidence opposition movement will embrace all Armenia and will inevitably end by “overturn of anti-national regime”.

Head of People’s Party of Armenia Stepan Demirchyan noted incumbent authorities pose threat to Armenia’s existence and opposition’s aim is not to allow developments continue under unfavorable scenario.
