Armenia is ready to contribute to improving food security in the world, said Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan on Wednesday at an international conference on investment opportunities in food and entrepreneurship development.

According to him, cooperation with the private sector, international partners, and individual states can contribute to this initiative.

“The issue of food security is important not only from the point of view of providing food, but also the development of human capital as the most important engine of the economy, without which all the goals set by Armenia could simply fail,” he said

It is necessary to harmonize the actions of all interested and responsible parties.

“These actions should take into account the peculiarities of the common integration space of the Eurasian Union, which includes Armenia, as well as the desire to adopt the best European experience, which will help provide business with knowledge about changes in the medium term. All this, in turn, will help to use the export potential of Armenia to the fullest extent,” he said.

Tigran Khachatryan referred to the trip of the Armenian delegation to Italy, where they also discussed issues of economic cooperation, as well as problems of food security.

“We have something to learn from Italy. This also applies to the use of innovative technologies in the field of agriculture. Rome is ready to share its experience, which will allow Armenia to more efficiently organize the production of products and the whole chain from food production to consumption,” he noted.
