Armenia has good food production capacity, and everything needs to be done to use the country's export opportunities in this regard. It is important to note, for example, that the quality of wine in Armenia has significantly improved over 10 years, said the head of the European Union delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin at an international conference on food investment opportunities and entrepreneurship development.

She recalled that this year marks two years since the signing of the EU-Armenia deal, which has become a solid basis for cooperation in many areas.

One of the most important areas is the desire to improve the level of food security in Armenia, she said.

According to her, the EU seeks not only to help the people of the countries not to starve, but also to have access to quality food.

It is important to make efforts to increase the level of education in the field of agriculture, as well as the development of the energy sector to provide a solid foundation for the use of natural conditions, as well as to increase the export potential, which is closely related to the problem of food security. The EU seeks closer cooperation with Armenia’s small and medium-sized businesses in various areas to overcome poverty, including in the regions of the republic,” she added.

On November 27, the UN World Food Programme in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Armenia, organized an international conference on investment opportunities in food and entrepreneurship development. The conference is organized as part of the Italian Cuisine Week.
