Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan today received the delegation led by Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir, reports the news service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia.

Welcoming the guests to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia again after a two-year interval, the Prosecutor General highly appreciated the current level of relations with the OSCE/ODIHR and the rich experience in cooperation. Davtyan stated that over the past two years since Gísladóttir’s previous visit to Armenia, radical developments have unfolded for the implementation of institutional, legislative and organizational reforms in the judicial-legal sector and the field of human rights protection and that international partnering organizations, including the OSCE have provided major support.

The OSCE/ODIHR Director expressed her satisfaction with the involvement of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia in the projects for cooperation to improve the democratic system and the system of human rights protection and the Office’s willingness to continue the cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the opportunities to increase effectiveness of the legislative grounds and the law-enforcement practice in the fight against crimes committed on the ground of hatred and, in this context, to implement training programs for prosecutors in the trilateral format of the OSCE/ODIHR, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia and the Academy of Justice of Armenia.

Issues related to the course of implementation of the OSCE/ODIHR’s program for needs assessment of the Prosecutor General’s Offices in the 6 Eastern Partnership countries and the strengthening of functional independence of prosecutors were also discussed during the meeting.
